T is expecting baby number two! We had a lot of fun with her maternity photos despite the huge amount of snow we are getting this year! Can't wait to meet the new little one :)

An Announcement!!

I am sure that many of you heard the news but I wanted to make an official announcement here. We are expecting!!!! A pair of twins will be joining our family in June :) We are all very excited about the arrival of the babies. But this means I will be slowing down with photographer and in time will be taking a maternity leave. Some of you may have already noticed the blog posts and facebook posts becoming fewer and farther between. I am planning to wrap things up with photography by the end of March and start my maternity leave in April just in case these little monkeys decide to show up in May. I will be excepting a limited number of sessions up until then and after the babies are born. I can really say how long I will be off after they arrive.... I think I will start taking a few sessions here and there even while I am on maternity leave. I can't imagine not shooting at all!!

Well I will leave you with a sneak peek of the little ones. They are 17 weeks in these ultrasound pictures.

Here is my daughter. It is so rare for me to get a good photo of her because she totally ignores me when I get out the camera because she is so used to it. She don't care about my little tricks anymore! But today I bribed her with getting to wear a petti skirt which she wore until supper time.

Trash the Dress!!!

Alivia is Two!!!

Wow two is a tough age for photography! Alivia just turned two at the beginning of the month so I took her outside the other day for some two year photos. She is so used to me having a camera in my hand that she just walks by like nothing is out of the ordinary and totally ignores me! I have over 60 photos of my girl not looking at me or even acknowledging my presence. Oh well, I just went with it and made the most of it. And I am actually really happy with what I got. My girl being HERSELF! We will have to leave the posed photos for another day.

I had a fun family session with two amazingly cute little girls. And even though there little Cousin was not have a good day and was only able to stay for one photo, the rest of the session with the girls when perfectly. I got such a kick out of little sis T's posing. I asked her to "give me some attitude" and she immediately snapped into this cute pose but could only think of the one way to stand. After that I just kept saying "attitude" when I want her to pose and she jumped right back into the same pose. It was just too cute. M did a great job taking direction too. It was so nice to work with some very photogenic older girls and have a break from the two year olds I work (and live with). Thanks for having me for you family session, I had a blast!!!

Leah and Chris Tie The Knot - Sneek Peek

This past Saturday I was honored to photograph Chris and Leah's wedding. Leah is my husbands cousin so that made this wedding that much more special to me. Thanks you both so much for allowing me to be part of your special day. I really did have a great time with you despite the rain which turned into SNOW! We were very limited in regards to locations because of the weather but this couple never let that overshadow the special day. Chris told me that "the weather was just God's way of saying that they would have to make it special in their own way" . Congrats to Leah and Chris!! We wish you a lifetime of love and happiness!

DV Photographers Meet Up

It was really nice to talk to other people about what we love and to see how other people work. Hopefully we will be able to make this a regular occurrence. Avery + Alivia = Best Friends

Here are some super cute images of my girl Alivia and her best friend Avery. I just LOVE these new petti skirts and the girls love them too. Liv was crying when I told her it was time to take them off! Avery is actually her second cousin and attends my dayhome three days a week so the girls get to spend a lot of time together. Avery is going to be a big sister this summer and I don't know what Liv is going to do while she is away when mom is on maternity leave! I guess we will be having lots of play dates and trips to the pool.

Leah + Chris = ♥ {Engagement Photography}

Leah is my husbands cousin. When she asked me to do her wedding photography this May I was both thrilled and I have to admit a little nervous! This will be my first solo wedding! My nerves were put to rest a bit at there engagement session though. Both Chis and Leah were so easy going and entertained me every whim even when that meant wading though waist deep snow, freezing outside in the Alberta winter, or even Leah tripping while walking down hill and falling in the snow!!! It was an adventure to say the least. Thank you guys so much for sticking it out with me!!!

Boudoir Envyis a new company that a fellow photographer - Jackie Hutchinson, and I are starting up!! We are kicking things off with a HUGE event. A boudoir marathon!! We are both super excited to be hosting such a fun event.

So, what is boudoir photography exactly?

Boudoir photography is making a real come back in recent years. It is a growing trend among photographers everywhere!! Boudoir photos are taken wearing either just a little (such as cute lingerie or only your hubby's favourite sports jersey) or maybe even nothing at all. They're hardly X-rated though, but closer to PG-13: classy, flirty, fun and suggestive. Your not wearing much but you are not really showing anything either.

Why choose boudoir photography?

Boudoir photography is about encouraging a woman's self confidence and bringing out a fun, playful, sexy side of yourself that you may not have know even existed. It's all about getting beautiful,artistic photos of yourself and your significant other. Boudoir photography makes a unique (and maybe unexpected) gift for that special someone in your life and has become very popular among brides as a gift for their groom. I was actually really nervous to photograph a photographer. There is a different pressure when you are photographing another professional. But it the end there was no reason to be worried she loved the photos and make an awesome photo book with them!!

I had a session with a large family last week. The only daughter of this couple with 6 kids booked a session for her whole family and Grandma too. I LOVED working with this group they were all very cooperative and photogenic despite the cold. Thank you to all of you for braving the cold with me. I think it really paid off, I love the images from this session.

After we were finished Addyson's photos the whole family headed outside for some family photos. Addyson's big brother Boston was such a little character. He said "Chee-azze" when ever I took his photo instead of Cheese. They make such a cute pair :) !

Until now all the newborns I have photographed have been boys. So I was super excited to tryout all my baby girl props with little baby Addyson. She was such a doll and did an awesome job sleeping and poseing for me. What an adorable baby!!

Lindsay, Shelden and their children joined me at my mother in laws farm for there session. The twins are about to turn one so Lindsay thought this would be the perfect time for a family photo. Katlyne did an awesome job "modeling" for me she is so photogenic!

She was so cute and from what I hear is a great big sister I love there names Paislee really suits her and Haze is an awesome name. The K family welcomed their second little boy into the world on September 4th. I was thrilled when Auntie Stephanie asked me to take his portraits. This was her baby gift to the family. Austin was 18 days old on the day of these photos. I really enjoyed this session, I think newborns are becoming my favorite subject to photograph! Grandma Lori planned this session for her children and grandchildren. This family was a ton of fun to work with and all so photogenic too! I just love the blue clothing mixed with the rustic scenery. Shooting in the hay loft was a big challenge for me but was great experience working with light and I think the risk paid off.

This little guy is turning one soon. He is adorable little man and I really enjoyed my session at the park with him. The weather was a little questionable but we when ahead with the shoot anyways. Please allow 1-2 hours for family sessions or up to 4 hours for newborn sessions.
All family sessions are done outside so be prepared for the weather.
After your session the proofs with be available to view within two weeks.
Prints are normally ready 2-3 weeks after you place your order.

What to Wear

What to Wear:
The most common question I get asked when booking a session is "What should we wear?". Here are a few tips that I hope will help you in coordinating your wardrobe.
Do - Dress casual in colorful clothing. Patterns should be bold and layers are great. Such as bold striped tights under a cute jean skirt. Accessorize: cute hats for kids or bold chunky necklaces for ladies.

Newborns and small babies are best with nothing at all or just a diaper with a cute cover.

Families and groups should have coordinating clothing NOT matching clothing. Keep colors in the same tone not the same color. You may want to consider bring a change of clothing and having two different looks.

Also keep in mind that all family session are outside so you should dress for the weather.

Don't – Wear clothing with Cartoon Characters, tops with words or brand logos. Small patterns like thin stripes or tiny polka dots should be avoided. Big puffy coats and vest should also be avoided.
